Exploratory study of privately funded residential care for older persons

Original title: Wonen met zorg

Private residential care for older people is a sector that appears to be growing in the Netherlands but about which little is currently known. This exploratory study sketches a picture of private residential care for older people with a long-term care need and the group(s) targeted by the sector. Among other things, the study looks at differences and correspondences compared with regular (public) residential care (nursing home care), the background and motives of residential care companies, problem areas and a number of questions for policy.

The study is based on interviews with key individuals and stakeholders in the field, a number of care companies and site or care managers working in private residential care. A number of private residential care facilities were also visited to obtain an impression of the diversity of facilities available.
